What is it?
A native North American plant, Echinacea purpurea has been used in Europe for 75 years, in medicine and in tonics to maintain natural immunity. We have been growing the herb organically in Rutland for over 10 years. After harvest, this is processed in our licensed pharmaceutical plant right here on the farm into product that is exported across the globe, principally as an ingredient in human medicines for coughs and colds.
EquinaceaTM Echinacea extract for horses is used for the maintenance of the natural immune system. Unlike the wide range of water-based products on the equine market (see below), EquinaceaTM is a pharmacy grade product that is traditionally formulated by professional herbalists to maximise the extraction of optimal actives, in a stable natural plant microemulsion.
Why Equinacea ?
Commercial samples of Echinacea vary widely in quality. Extended storage times and different production methods can severely impact on the concentration of important constituents, suchas the alkamides, phenylpropanoids and polysaccharides that give Echinacea its therapeutic properties.
Unlike inferior products, our Echinacea is produced here on the farm, from the finest, freshest ingredients, that are used in human medicinal products.

How do I use it?
Directions for use: Mix well into absorbent dry feed (such as bran, chaff or alfa) at least twice daily. The optimum dose is 0.2ml per kg bodyweight per day, split into a number of feeds. Large horses (450-500kg) may be fed up to a maximum of 100ml per day, split into a number of feeds (at least two). Smaller horses and large ponies (300-400kg) up to a total of 80ml per day. Ponies under 300kg up to a total of 60ml per day. It is recommended to start at half the dose and build up slowly over a number of days. Some fussier feeders will object to the higher dose, and either the full dose can be split into a greater number of feeds, or a maintenance dose of half the recommended amount will still provide a considerable degree of cover, depending on the state of the immune system at the outset.
